Card Readers

Card readers are installed on every washer and dryer, allowing users to activate the machines with a contactless card. The reader debits the card balance and starts the cycle.

How they work

To start a machine, users present their laundry card to the reader and, depending on the type of machine, press a button to begin a wash or dry cycle. The reader debits the card balance and starts the cycle. All important messages, including cycle costs and card balances, are shown in a bright, easy-to-read LCD display. The readers can communicate wirelessly with the Value Add Center. This communication is primarily for data reporting purposes and is optional.

The vast majority of cases they replace coin drops, but is possible to install the readers in parallel with the coin drops, allowing the machine to accepts both cards and coins.

Communication between the card and the card reader is accomplished using short-range wireless communication, similar to RFID technology used by key fobs and access cards.

To use the card, simply present the card to the reader, or lay it in a designated pocket. In contrast to traditional smart card technology that uses a Chip, contactless technology has no exposed electrical contacts, which are prone to damage from wear and the environment, and requires no maintenance.

Card Reader Enclosures

The reader enclosures come in two general varieties: meter-case mount and front-panel mount. There are slight variations in each, depending on the exact laundry equipment being targeted. All enlosures are made entirely from a heavy-duty metallic material and are custom machined to fit seamlessly into the target equipment.

Machine Support

We support the vast majority of all commercial machines from various machine manufacturers including Alliance Laundry Systems (Speed Queen, Huebsch, IPSO), Continental-Girbau, Maytag, Wascomat, and Dexter.
